Best Maui Snorkeling Beaches
Ahihi Keanau Reserve
Although not really a beach, we list Ahihi because it's the perfect place for beginners and up. This spot is easy to access and has great snorkeling all around. The depth doesn't vary much and stays between 5-20 feet until you get far out. The beautiful reef is filled with tropical fish. For more information and a map, Click on the photo.
Honolua
Honolua Bay is one of the most gorgeous spots in the world. The reef is lively and really clear. Where you would normally enter doesn't have a sand beach, but rock and bolders that are great for enjoying the view. Though this is a famous surfing spot, the inside of the bay is usually undisturbed unless the swell is really large. After walking the trail down through the jungle, the snorkeling is best off to the right side of the bay. Kamaole beaches
Kihei has some great snorkeling areas. The "3 Kam's" are 3 beaches that strech across Kihei. The order goes Kam 1 in the North, and Kam 3 in the South. All of these beaches have great beach parks. Kamaole 3 has the largest park and is the most popular with the locals. Snorkeling is good at the points of any of the lava outcroppings. For more information and a map, Click on the photo. La Perouse Bay
La Perouse has many areas to Snorkel. If you're adventurous enough, you'll be snorkeling your own spot alone. This area is where you'll find great snorkel opportunities. There are many small sand beaches to enter at, or you can scamper over rocks. In the summer there can be Big South swells that may make entering some areas difficult. Polo Beach

Ulua Beach
After parking at Ulua, go straight down to the beach and you'll have an option of going left to Ulua, or right to Mokapu. Go to the left and snorkel on the right side of the beach. The left side is often turbulent and not clear. Stay along the rock formation and keep going out. If you've got strong lungs, you can go past the first reef to a second reef with a turtle cleaning station. If you're looking for the best beach Maui has to offer, you need to check out Kapalua in the Northwest for sunbathing, and Ulua for snorkeling. These beaches are Maui's best because of the tropical coral covered reefs and the perfect white sands. Take advantage of morning hours when crowds are less and the sun isn't too hot. Remember that with the cool Maui winds come a false-confidence in your not getting burned. Even with the breazes, you can be burned in minutes.
